Originally known as The Manor in 1910, this 55-acre estate of John Teele and Ruth Baker Pratt was considered by Country Life Magazine as one of the "Best 12 Country Houses in America”. Designed by the noted architect Charles Adams Platt (1861-1933), the brick Georgian mansion set in pastoral surroundings was an integral part of the many glamorous estates that once comprised Long Island's Gold Coast.
The mansion's architectural style reflects the grandeur of the era, featuring a stunning Georgian Revival design with intricate detailing, sprawling gardens, and breathtaking views of Long Island Sound. The estate quickly became a social hub for the Pratt family, hosting lavish parties and gatherings attended by the elite of New York society.
Mrs. Ruth Baker Pratt and her family maintained the estate until her death in 1965. In 1985, “The Manor” became The Harrison House, which was one of the very first conference center hotels in the United States in 1985.
In 2019, the mansion underwent a meticulous restoration and renovation, transforming it into the luxurious event venue and hotel known today as "The Mansion at Glen Cove." Preserving its historic charm while incorporating modern amenities, the mansion offers guests an unparalleled blend of old-world elegance and contemporary comfort.

1925
The Great Gatsby is published. Written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald, it follows a cast of characters living in the fictional town of West Egg on Long Island’s Gold Coast in the summer of 1922.
1929
Ruth Baker Pratt becomes the first woman elected to Congress from New York, serving as a Republican in the 71st and 72nd Congresses.
1967
“The Manor” was renamed as The Harrison House, which was one of the first conference center hotels in the United States.
